New Judge Dredd Reboot in Development

Screenwriter Drew Pearce is reportedly attached to write the script for the project.

While many fans hope he will return, current reports indicate that the actor’s involvement in the upcoming reboot is unlikely.

How Karl Urban’s Dredd Became a Cult Favorite

When Dredd was released in 2012, it struggled at the box office. However, the film eventually gained a strong cult following among fans of science fiction and comic book adaptations.

Critics praised the film’s dark tone, action sequences, and Karl Urban’s performance as the stoic lawman of Mega-City One.

The movie currently holds an 80% Tomatometer score and a 72% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Over the years, many fans have continued to campaign for a sequel featuring Karl Urban returning to the role.

The Origins of Judge Dredd

The character Judge Dredd was created in the 1970s by comic artist Carlos Ezquerra and writer John Wagner.

Judge Dredd first appeared in the British comic series 2000 AD and quickly became one of the most recognizable figures in science fiction comics.

Before Karl Urban portrayed the character, Judge Dredd also appeared in the 1995 film Judge Dredd starring Sylvester Stallone.
