Pirates of Caribbean 6 Producer Shuts Down Rumors About Leaving Jack Sparrow Behind!

Jerry Bruckheimer has officially shut down rumors that Johnny Depp might be excluded from Pirates 6.

“First of all, that’s not true. No, no, no. Johnny… if it’s up to me, he’ll be in it,” Bruckheimer confirmed.

Fans have been eagerly waiting for news about the next chapter of the iconic franchise, which has seen countless adventures on the high seas since 2003. Moreover, Depp’s portrayal of Jack Sparrow has become one of the most beloved characters in cinematic history, making his potential absence, therefore, a major talking point among the fanbase.

Development of Pirates 6 and Depp’s Involvement

The sixth installment has been in development since 2017’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. However, Depp’s involvement remained uncertain following his public defamation case against Amber Heard, which consequently cast doubts over his return.

In February 2026, reports claimed the new film may focus on Jack Sparrow’s son, therefore raising speculation that Depp could be replaced as the franchise’s lead. Nevertheless, this would not rule out a cameo or supporting appearance, thus keeping hope alive for fans of the original pirate.

Moreover, sources suggest the film may explore new storylines while respecting the legacy characters, creating a balance between old and new adventures.

Johnny Depp Signals Openness to Return

Back in July 2023, Depp signaled openness to returning, as a source told People:

“Anything is possible” regarding reprising Jack Sparrow.

Additionally, in August 2025, Bruckheimer told Entertainment Weekly he had spoken with Depp about returning:

“I believe he would do it,” he said, though he added it would depend on the script.

Furthermore, this collaboration could allow Depp to pass the torch to a new generation of characters, while at the same time still giving longtime fans a satisfying connection to the original films

Bruckheimer Reflects on Film Production

Looking back on his producing career, Bruckheimer remarked:

“Look, any time you get a movie made, I’m impressed. And some of these films that get made are enormously complicated. That they pull them together again, I mean, it boggles my mind how difficult it is.”

He continued to emphasize the challenges of producing a large-scale franchise film, noting that every installment requires careful coordination of stunts, visual effects, and storytelling.

Jack Sparrow’s Legacy and Fan Expectations

Jack Sparrow has become a cultural icon, known for his wit, charm, and unpredictable antics. Furthermore, his character has influenced generations of fans and additionally inspired countless parodies, merchandise, and theme park attractions.

“Jack Sparrow is irreplaceable,” says a fan source. “Even if the story focuses on his son or new pirates, we want Johnny Depp in some capacity.”

Depp’s potential return could serve as a bridge between legacy characters and a new generation. Consequently, this approach would allow the franchise to evolve naturally, while simultaneously providing a proper send-off for Jack Sparrow.

Moreover, the film could explore Sparrow’s influence on a younger generation, highlighting themes of legacy, family, and adventure.

While details remain limited, insiders suggest that Pirates 6 will blend classic pirate action with fresh storylines, featuring both legacy characters and new faces. Moreover, fans can expect high-stakes adventures, humorous moments true to Jack Sparrow’s style, and emotional arcs that honor the original films. In fact, Bruckheimer added,

“The goal is to respect the past while opening doors for new stories.”

As a result, the confirmation of Johnny Depp’s involvement has already reignited excitement across social media, with many fans eagerly awaiting an official announcement on the full cast and plot details.
