The upcoming Call of Duty movie will be set in the Modern Warfare universe. Director and co-writer Peter Berg confirmed the news during Fanatics Fest in New York City.
This decision immediately connects the film to one of the most popular eras in the franchise’s history. However, it remains unclear whether the movie will directly adapt a specific game or tell an entirely new story within the same universe.

“We want to make sure that the authenticity of it is captured on a human level so that it feels really real and infuse that with epic scope.”
