Full Story Breakdown
The new photos show Rick and Evelyn looking close, giving fans a glimpse of the couple’s return. However, the images do not reveal whether they are still married in the upcoming sequel. Meanwhile, Michael Johnston, known for Obsession, has shared new details about his role and teased an action-packed experience that aims to recapture the spirit of the original movie.
The Mummy 4 Set Photos Reveal Rick and Evelyn’s Return
Fraser and Weisz are reprising their iconic roles in the fourth installment of The Mummy franchise. Their reunion marks a major moment for fans who have wanted to see the original stars return together. The actors last shared the screen as Rick and Evelyn in The Mummy Returns (2001). Although the franchise continued with The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008, Weisz did not return for that installment.
The fourth film is reportedly moving forward without treating Tomb of the Dragon Emperor as part of its continuity. This approach could allow the new movie to focus on Rick and Evelyn’s story without relying heavily on the third film’s events. For now, the set photos offer only a glimpse of the characters’ reunion. The film has yet to reveal what brings the couple back into danger or what kind of adventure awaits them.
Michael Johnston Reveals His New Mummy 4 Character
Some fans speculated that Michael Johnston might play the son of Rick and Evelyn. However, the actor has confirmed that he is portraying a new character instead.
Speaking to Attitude, Johnston explained that the film would return to the franchise’s original formula.
“It’s a new character, but the film is just returning to its original formula. It’s just like that first film. It’s going to give the fans exactly what they want. Rick and Evie are back,” Johnston said.
His comments suggest that the sequel will recapture the adventure and excitement that made the 1999 original a fan favorite. Moreover, Johnston teased a fast-paced story filled with action.
“We’re going on an adventure again. It’s so exciting. The film rips. It just goes immediately. It’s truly an action film. It’s fight scenes and chase scenes and running through the streets,” he added.
Johnston also described working with stunt performers as an exciting experience. His remarks indicate that the sequel will feature plenty of physical action while remaining faithful to the spirit of the original movie.
Who Is Returning for The Mummy 4?
Alongside Fraser and Weisz, several familiar franchise stars are expected to return. The reported cast includes John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo, Oded Fehr, Kevin J. O’Connor, and Numan Acar, with Johnston joining as a new character.
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, collectively known as Radio Silence, are directing the movie from a screenplay by David Coggeshall. Sean Daniel is returning as a producer, joined by William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment.
The franchise began with The Mummy in 1999, followed by The Mummy Returns in 2001 and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008. The upcoming installment will bring Fraser and Weisz back together after years apart.
The Mummy 4 Release Date Confirmed
