Amy Adams Opens Up About Her Star Wars: Starfighter Experience

During an appearance on the SmartLess podcast, Amy Adams revealed that she plays a relatively minor role in Star Wars: Starfighter. Nevertheless, she made it clear that the size of her role did not diminish her excitement about being part of the legendary franchise.

According to Adams, she has a “very small part” in the film. Even so, she described the opportunity as incredibly rewarding because she has admired Star Wars for many years.

In addition, Adams shared that she had the chance to interact with some of the film’s iconic production elements. She explained that she visited the creature shop twice during filming, calling the experience “so cool.” For longtime fans, getting an inside look at the craftsmanship behind the franchise is often a dream, making the experience especially memorable for her.

Amy Adams Admits She Was Nervous on Her First Day

Although Amy Adams is an Academy Award-nominated actress with years of experience, she admitted that working on Star Wars: Starfighter made her surprisingly nervous.

Speaking about her first day on set, Adams said:

“I mean, I’ll talk about this, I’m sure, down the road, but like – I don’t know what I’m allowed to talk about, but I was so nervous the first day of working, like I forgot how to act. I’m sure Shawn Levy’s like, ‘Amy, are you okay?’ And I’m like, ‘No. I’m just not alright!'”

Furthermore, she explained that balancing her excitement as a devoted fan with her responsibilities as a performer proved to be more challenging than she expected.

She said:

“I have to now get out of my dorky fangirl place and go into my professional actress [mode], and combining the two was really hard. It’s so cool, you guys – it’s just so cool.”

Her honest comments offer a rare look at how even accomplished actors can feel overwhelmed when joining one of Hollywood’s most beloved franchises.

Amy Adams Praises the Cast and Star Wars: Starfighter

Besides discussing her own experience, Amy Adams also praised Flynn Gray, one of the film’s young central cast members. Although she did not reveal any story details, her comments suggest she was impressed by his performance during production.

Meanwhile, Star Wars: Starfighter features an impressive ensemble led by Ryan Gosling, Mia Goth, Matt Smith, and Amy Adams. Shawn Levy directs the film from a screenplay written by Jonathan Tropper.

Although Lucasfilm has kept the plot under wraps, the movie is officially set five years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. As a result, many fans expect the film to introduce a fresh chapter in the galaxy while building upon the sequel trilogy’s timeline.

Lucasfilm and 21 Laps Entertainment are producing the project, while Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will handle worldwide distribution.

Star Wars: Starfighter is currently scheduled to arrive in U.S. theaters on May 28, 2027. Until then, fans will likely continue looking for every new update as production moves forward.
