Avatar: Aang: The Last Airbender Sets Blu-ray and 4K Release Dates!
The Avatar Aang Blu-ray Release Date has finally been announced, giving fans a new way to own the latest animated adventure in the Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender universe.
Full Story Breakdown
Paramount+ and Alliance Home Entertainment have confirmed two physical editions, although fans interested in the 4K SteelBook will have to wait a little longer.
Avatar Aang Blu-ray Release Date and 4K Details
Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD on November 3, 2026. However, collectors looking for the premium version will need to wait until February 9, 2027. That is when the 4K Ultra HD SteelBook edition is scheduled to arrive.
Pre-orders for the 4K edition are already available, giving fans the opportunity to secure the collector-focused release ahead of its launch. The two-stage rollout gives audiences a choice between the standard Blu-ray/DVD editions and the later 4K Ultra HD SteelBook.
Why Avatar Aang Skipped Theaters?
The physical release comes after an unexpected change to the movie’s original distribution plans. Paramount initially planned to release Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender in theaters in October. However, the studio ultimately scrapped the theatrical release and shifted the movie to Paramount+.
The animated feature instead debuted on Paramount+ on July 25, 2026. The movie’s release plans became even more complicated after the full-length film leaked online in April 2026, months before its official debut.
Following the leak, Paramount moved up the streaming release. The decision was reportedly connected to concerns surrounding the movie’s budget and distribution strategy. Now, the upcoming physical editions will give the film another opportunity to reach fans.
What Is Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender About?
The animated feature takes place with Aang much older than audiences may remember him.
According to the official synopsis:
“Avatar Aang, the world’s last Airbender, is all grown up. He learns of an ancient power that could save his culture from extinction. With the help of his friends, the Last Airbender embarks on a global quest to find it before it falls into the wrong hands and upends the peace they sacrificed everything to achieve.”
The story sends Aang and his friends on a global journey as they search for an ancient power capable of protecting their culture. At the same time, the group must prevent that power from falling into dangerous hands. As a result, the adventure raises the stakes while expanding the world beyond the familiar locations of the original series.
Avatar Aang Receives Strong Fan Response
The movie has also performed well with critics and audiences. Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender currently holds a 90% Tomatometer score and an impressive 99% Popcornmeter audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
That strong audience response could help drive interest in the upcoming physical editions. In particular, the 4K Ultra HD SteelBook may appeal to longtime collectors who want a premium version of the animated feature.
Voice Cast and Creative Team
Lauren Montgomery directed Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, while franchise creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko served as producers.
The movie features a notable voice cast, including:
- Eric Nam as Aang
- Steven Yeun as Zuko
- Dave Bautista as Tagah
- Jessica Matten as Katara
- Román Zaragoza as Sokka
- Dionne Quan as Toph
The involvement of established franchise talent also gives the movie a strong connection to the larger Avatar: The Last Airbender universe.
When Can Fans Buy Avatar Aang on Blu-ray?
The Avatar Aang Blu-ray Release Date is set for November 3, 2026, when the Blu-ray and DVD editions become available. Meanwhile, the 4K Ultra HD SteelBook arrives on February 9, 2027, giving collectors another option several months later.
After losing its planned theatrical release and moving to Paramount+, the movie is now entering another stage of its release journey. For fans who want to add Aang’s latest adventure to their physical collection, the November Blu-ray release will be the first opportunity to do so.
