Slow Horses Star Jack Lowden Reportedly “Strongly Considered” to Become the Next James Bond!

The search for the next James Bond continues to attract plenty of attention. Since Daniel Craig’s departure, fans have wondered who could take over the iconic role. Now, a new report has added Jack Lowden to the growing list of potential contenders.

Lowden is best known for playing River Cartwright in Apple TV+’s Slow Horses. However, recent comments from podcast host and television presenter Richard Osman suggest that the actor could be more seriously involved in the Bond conversation than many expected.

Jack Lowden Is Reportedly Being Strongly Considered for James Bond

According to Richard Osman, Jack Lowden is one of the names he has heard in connection with the next James Bond movie. Osman discussed the casting rumors on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast.

While he stressed that Lowden has not officially been cast, Osman claimed that the actor is being “strongly considered” for the role.

“The name I’ve heard is Jack Lowden. It is definitely not a ‘he’s definitely got it’ thing. He is definitely being strongly considered. I think he’d be amazing.”

Therefore, the comments do not confirm Lowden as the next Bond. Still, they suggest that his name may have gained serious attention behind the scenes.

Why Jack Lowden Could Be a Strong Bond Candidate?

Lowden already has experience across television, film, and theater. Most importantly, his performance as River Cartwright in Slow Horses has helped establish him as a versatile leading actor.

The Apple TV+ spy thriller also gives Lowden a useful connection to the world of espionage. His role as Cartwright has allowed him to portray a character caught between danger, intelligence work, and personal conflict.

As a result, his Slow Horses background could make the actor an intriguing choice for a new James Bond era.

Lowden has also appeared in projects such as the BBC’s War & Peace. In addition, he earned an Olivier Award for his stage performance in Ghosts, further highlighting his range as a performer.

Slow Horses Connection Makes the Rumor More Interesting

Interestingly, there may be another connection between Lowden and the Bond casting process.

The casting director who worked on Slow Horses is reportedly involved in the search for the next James Bond. That connection has naturally fueled speculation surrounding Lowden.

However, this does not confirm that the Slow Horses star is the studio’s final choice. Casting teams consider many actors before making a major franchise decision.

Still, the combination of Lowden’s spy-thriller experience and his reported connection to the casting process makes the latest rumor particularly notable.

When Could the Next James Bond Be Announced?

The James Bond franchise is entering a new era following Daniel Craig’s departure.

Bond producer Amy Pascal recently suggested that an official announcement could arrive before the end of the year. Meanwhile, Pascal and David Heyman are leading the reboot for Amazon MGM after Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson stepped away from their longtime leadership roles.

If an announcement does arrive soon, fans may finally learn which actor will carry the franchise forward.

Denis Villeneuve Is Directing the Next Bond Movie

The next James Bond movie already has a major creative name attached to it. Denis Villeneuve is set to direct the upcoming film, with production reportedly targeted for 2027.

Steven Knight is writing the screenplay. Villeneuve is also expected to have significant creative influence over the project.

Consequently, the next Bond movie could represent a major stylistic shift for the franchise.

The studio is reportedly looking for a younger actor in his 20s or 30s. The goal appears to be finding someone who can potentially remain Bond for many years.

Daniel Craig was 37 when he first played Bond in Casino Royale. By the time No Time to Die arrived, he was 53.

Who Else Could Become the Next James Bond?

Jack Lowden is not the only actor reportedly linked to the role. Several other names have emerged during the search.

Among the actors reportedly being considered are:

  • Jacob Elordi
  • Callum Turner
  • Harris Dickinson
  • Jack Lowden

At this stage, however, there is no official confirmation that any of these actors has been selected.

Jack Lowden’s James Bond Casting Remains Unconfirmed

For now, Jack Lowden remains a reported contender rather than the confirmed next James Bond.

Richard Osman’s comments have certainly increased interest in the Slow Horses star. Moreover, Lowden’s experience in spy drama, his acclaimed stage career, and his reported connection to the Bond casting process make him an intriguing possibility.

Nevertheless, fans will have to wait for an official announcement from Amazon MGM before knowing who will ultimately replace Daniel Craig.
