Elden Ring Star Shares the Unexpected Conversation That Landed Him a Role in the Movie!

The upcoming Elden Ring movie has assembled an impressive cast, and one of its newest stars has now shared the surprising story behind how he joined the project. Peter Serafinowicz, who is already familiar to FromSoftware fans through his voice work in several of the developer’s games, recently revealed that his casting was the result of an unexpected encounter with director Alex Garland years before the film entered production.

Moreover, Serafinowicz spoke about his deep appreciation for the Dark Souls series, explaining why FromSoftware’s games have remained unlike anything else he has ever played.

Peter Serafinowicz’s Love for FromSoftware Games Made the Role Special

Before discussing how he landed the role, Serafinowicz reflected on what makes the Dark Souls games so memorable. According to him, the challenge and sense of accomplishment are unlike anything offered by other games.

Speaking about his experience, he said:

“Once that clicks, it’s like, oh my god, this is the game I’ve been waiting for my whole life. It teaches you that no obstacle is insurmountable. And it’s just the most satisfying game that I’ve ever played. And there’s a thing about all these games, once you play them and if they click for you, you don’t want to play any other game. And I just haven’t.”

His comments highlight why joining the Elden Ring movie carries extra significance. As someone who genuinely admires FromSoftware’s work, becoming part of the franchise represents a full-circle moment.

A Chance Meeting With Alex Garland Led to the Elden Ring Movie

Serafinowicz also explained that his connection with Elden Ring director Alex Garland began through an unexpected meeting at a talent agency.

Recalling how everything started, he said:

“[Garland] had to go into a meeting and I left my phone number at reception. I said, ‘Could you give this to Alex Garland when he comes out?’ It was like a sort of date, you know.”

That simple gesture turned into a lasting friendship, which would later lead to an opportunity neither of them could have predicted.

Reflecting on how things came together years later, Serafinowicz added:

“And so we became friends. Anyway, fast forward to now, Alex is currently directing Elden Ring the movie, and I’m in it! I’m in it! I just can’t believe my luck. I just can’t believe that, that it’s like, wow, dude. Wow, man!”

Peter Serafinowicz’s Role Remains a Mystery

Although Serafinowicz has officially joined the cast, the filmmakers have not revealed which character he will portray.

Naturally, that has sparked speculation among fans. One popular theory suggests he could voice the Loathsome Dung Eater, thanks to his extensive voice acting experience. However, neither the production team nor Serafinowicz has confirmed those rumors.
