Star Wars Series Receives Its First Official Teaser
The newly released teaser marks the first official promotional footage for Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi. Although it keeps most of the story hidden, it successfully builds anticipation for the complete trailer, which is scheduled to premiere on July 2, 2026.
The series is produced by Lucasfilm in partnership with Production I.G., the acclaimed Japanese animation studio behind the original The Ninth Jedi episode from Star Wars: Visions. Because of that collaboration, viewers can expect the same striking animation style and cinematic action that made the original story a fan favorite.
Furthermore, Star Wars: Visions Presents is a new banner that gives creators the opportunity to revisit popular characters introduced in Star Wars: Visions. Instead of remaining one-off anthology episodes, selected stories can now continue through standalone limited series that further develop their worlds and characters.
Kara Continues Her Mission in The Ninth Jedi
The upcoming series continues Kara’s journey following the events of the original The Ninth Jedi episode.
As the story unfolds, Kara resumes her search for her missing father while attempting to evade the dangerous Jedi Hunters pursuing her. At the same time, she must confront new threats and uncover more secrets connected to her family’s legacy. Consequently, the series promises to raise the stakes while expanding the mythology introduced in the original short.
Since The Ninth Jedi became one of the most acclaimed entries in Star Wars: Visions, many fans hoped its story would continue beyond a single episode. Fortunately, Star Wars: Visions Presents makes that possible by allowing creators to tell longer, character-driven stories without being tightly connected to the larger Skywalker saga.
As a result, the creative team has more freedom to explore Kara’s journey while maintaining the unique storytelling style that helped the original episode stand out.
Lucasfilm Continues Expanding Star Wars Animation
Besides The Ninth Jedi, Lucasfilm has another animated project in development for Disney+.
Maul: Shadow Lord is currently scheduled to arrive in 2026 and follows Darth Maul after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In addition, Sam Witwer returns to voice the legendary Sith Lord once again.
Meanwhile, Lucasfilm Vice President of Animation Athena Portillo recently praised Witwer’s involvement in the series, highlighting how closely he has worked with the creative team.
“Unfortunately I can’t tell you too much, but what I can say is Sam Witwer’s involvement in the show has been pristine. I’m very excited about him being able to review the scripts and provide input in all of that as well.”
Her comments suggest that Lucasfilm continues to involve longtime franchise talent throughout the production process.
